My Dell Dimension 8100 desktop computer runs Windows ME (Millenium Edition) and on its Windows Media Player I have the blissfully beautiful and peaceful visualization ' Ambience: Random'. On my Toshiba Satellite laptop computer, running Windows Vista Basic, I do not have ' Ambience: Random' - as far as I can see. Is there any way in which I can get ' Ambience: Random' onto my Vista Basic laptop Windows Media Player, please?

I so love, ' Ambience: Random' and it is the only visualization to which I can effectivelyrelax and meditate; so it's really important to me to have it on my laptop. Any help would be very much appreciated.
I have it on my Windows Media Player on my Dell Desktop computer running Windows ME (Millenium Edition ).
I'm sorry, but your qestion is so light on clues, I can't get a handle on what your question is. In order for us to analyze a potential problem and offer tips, we must rely only on the question content to attempt a qualifying response. A question should state the exact system error(s) - spelled, spaced, and capitalized just as it is shown on the display. Helpful perhaps is the window title in the colored bar of the report and any information when provided by a 'Details' section also. Most error messages:? Usually list and describe standard default error messages - written within the program code and usually recognized by most 'Gurus'? The troubleshooting techniques may be published and explained in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (MSKB) library for the Windows operating systems or elsewhere on the WEB and may be searched for with accurately reported information.
Correct and complete information is vital if informative help and answers are what you seek. You want that Guru who reads your plea to understand the question, to possibly know the answer, and to reply giving you their assistance.
Please check through this forum ' for possible help. This is my 1st time using this, so I am not sure if I am asking the question in the correct location.
In any case, I use Windows XP and I am having a reoccuring pop up problem. Every time I open my browser, try to reply to an email, or basically attempt to use the applications on my PC, I get a pop up that says: Select Skin File.
The look in folder in the pop up box always seems to be pointed to the last file or folder that I opened on my computer. My virus definitions are up to date and I use a spyware detector regularly. Can anyone tell me how to stop this.
It is preventing me from using the reply function in email and very annoying in every other aspect of the work I do onlin. Your suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks, Alison. I am also having this condition, with the pop up asking me to choose a 'skin file'. This started just after 2 new games were played on the computer- The Incredibles and Sponge Bob. I understand this has something to do with the Windows Media Player, but how do you shut it off?
I am running XP but have not downloaded the SP2 as I am on a Dell, and I understand there may be some issues with the download ( a friend lost everything off her DELL after XP2) I have just loaded Spyware Killer, and cleaned all cookies. In my Spyware Killer and Norton, settings read that some 'ActiveX files' are missing. Should I reload, delete or what? Note: This is simply a guess since I have no idea whether the question deals with the possible execution of WPM and a problem either exists with the current 'Skin(s)' used - if any - or there is a possibility that what may be executing (from your description) there is a requirement that additional 'Skins' for its rendering is necessary,. Perhaps there is a problem with WPM itself should it be necessary in this scenario. The appearance of WPM can be changed by using skins which has a distinct appearance that usually incorporates basic Player functions such as play, previous, next, stop, and the ability to adjust the volume.
Certain audio files can be played, view a visualization, or do a variety of other things depending on the skin applied. The Player includes several skins but skins can also be downloaded from the Internet. When a skin is applied, that skin displays whenever the Player is changed from full mode to skin mode.
To apply a skin, click Skin Chooser, and in the skins list, click the skin wanted (a preview of the skin appears). Click Apply Skin and the Player switches to skin mode. To delete a skin, click Skin Chooser, and in the skins list, click the skin to delete. To download skins from the Internet, click Skin Chooser, More Skins and open the WindowsMedia.com Web site to download additional skins. Click the link to the skin, follow the instructions on the Web page and the skin is downloads and added to the list of skins. When the download completes, click View Now to apply the skin to the Player.
The Player is displayed in skin mode with the skin selected. The WMP default visualizations that are designed to work in Full Screen mode are the Plenoptic and Ambience visualizations. The Ambience visualization can be run in Full Screen mode with any color setting; however, the Plenoptic visualization should be in True Color (32 bit) mode. When activating Full Screen mode, either press ALT+ENTER, or, on the View menu, click Full Screen. The Particle, Spikes, Bars and Waves, and Musical Colors visualizations do not run in Full Screen and the command is unavailable (appears dimmed) on the View menu,. Visualizations do not work when MID or MID files are played.
This problem occurs because the visualization architecture cannot function with MIDI audio because of the way MIDI is rendered,. If using Remote Desktop Connection or Terminal Services session, WMP cannot be displayed in full-screen visualizations,. Supplemental reading: a. Windows Media '.'
Well, I simply selected a skin, then it quit. (clicked on a.skn file ) However, my browser now had both a Google Toolbar and a Viewpoint Toolbar.
From this, I concluded that someone (else) had clicked 'YES' during the AIM install to allow the Viewpoint Toolbar to be (partially) installed. I prefer the Google Toolbar. I've learned, though, that when going to the IE, View, Toolbars, that the checkmarks for Google and Viewpoint are criss-crossed. I could just uncheck the one labelled 'Google' to get just the Google one and to hide the Viewpoint one, but I prefer to get rid of the Viewpoint one altogether. Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove programs and remove the Viewpoint Toolbar.
I believe if you try this step, you'll be rid of your pop-up for 'select skin file' By the way, I tried unchecking the 'Enable third party browser extensions (requires reboot)' mentioned earlier in this thread. It does indeed prevent the pop-up, but it also prevents my beloved Google Toolbar, so this is not a good solution (for me.) Hope this helps, Frank.
